Mapping Barriers

PROJECT

The project MAPA – Mapping barriers and target groups for increasing participation in adult education – has been implemented by the partnership of the Forum for Lifelong Learning (SK) and EDU.IN – Associação para a Educação Integral (PT) supported by the Erasmus+ Programme. The project duration of 24 months (April 2023 – March 2025)

The goal of the project is to support evidence-based policy-making in adult education in Portugal and Slovakia with a focus on low-skilled adults and vulnerable target groups and the barriers that prevent them from accessing learning in later stages of their lives.

The project will map the situation in both countries in the reports which will be made available to policy-makers and other stakeholders in this area. The project activities will allow for an exchange of information and experience of stakeholders and the project partners in both countries, and thus contribute to building the community in this area.

The mapping will be based on interviews with low-skilled adults, community workers, outreach workers, staff from regional Labour Offices, AE providers, non-profit organizations, representatives from regional governments and public/state administration.

The project will result in:

  • two national mapping reports aimed at identifying barriers for low-skilled/educated adults to education and guidance and proposals for interventions,
  • three international events (2 round tables with stakeholders and a final conference)
